Packaging

As Vistaprint repositions itself as a marketing and design partner for Small Business Owners rather than simply a purveyor of customised print and marketing products I’ve been leading the global creative packaging programme efforts with emphasis on elevated unboxing experience and improved sustainability integration/visibility at the forefront of this brand strategy. This involved not only a design-goals reassessment, but a major overhaul of the creative-to-print-in-house process.

Task

Vistaprint has a major requirement for strong, creatively branded and sustainably focused packaging. I was involved in coordinating resource and design for both the primary and secondary packaging that customers receives and the high-quality designs the company provides in the form of adaptable, editable templates available to customers across many print and packaging materials for SBOs.

Packaging. As Vistaprint was primarily a customised print provider there we a large number of varied print and packaging requirements not typical of many mainstream packaging providers.

Folder design visualised with IC3D software

Packaging folder design realised in IC3D. Illustrative design and rendering by JJWalker. I was also responsible for the testing and introduction of IC3D into the Vistaprint creative department. Specifically chosen as a way to improved our pitch proposal tool set and advance the push for a seamless connection between packaging concept designs and the print production ready artwork flow.

Chinese operation for bottle packaging

Water bottle packaging design

Packaging developed for a Chinese 3rd party fulfiller process which included procuring a number of varied bottle designs and having the products shipped in the packaging (jointly procured in China) therefore the packaging design needed to fit a number of bottle styles, be in one colour and support Sustainability goals and targets.

HVC products and packaging design for Vistaprint

HVC pack containing a number of branded items sent to loyal customers in a prestigious presentation box.

Premium / generic bottle packaging

Premium water bottle design packaging

Premium packaging for a varied selection of drinkware bottles in capped cardboard tubes. The design needed to be applicable for a number of different bottles in the range.
